The 3 Common Mistakes First Time Cannabis Users Make

Even though Cannabis use is widespread these days, there are still some considerations to keep in mind. Today we’re talking about The 3 Common Mistakes First Time Cannabis Users Make.

There are many people who haven’t tried smoking pot or consuming weed in other forms or ways.

It can feel scary or intimidating, and even when it’s for medicinal purposes, misconceptions can get in the way of wellness.

When beginners first take that proverbial leap of faith, there are some common mistakes that can definitely be avoided so that the experience is enjoyable and beneficial.

Mistake #1 – I Won’t Get High

One of the most common mistakes is believing that you won’t get high if you just take a few puffs or just a couple of cannabis edibles.

The truth is, depending on the product, you may feel different in just a few puffs, or after less than an hour – it also depends heavily on the potency of the edible you’re using.

No matter which way you consume cannabis, you are guaranteed to feel something – so be certain of the products, dosage and strain you are about to use.

Mistake #2 – All Cannabis Is The Same

If someone you know has a medical marijuana prescription and offers you some, it could be a lot different than what you buy in a dispensary.

There are so many variations and strains of cannabis and they are not the same.

Indica strains generally provide you with that lazy, sleepy, vegetation-style vibe. It’s bene to known to feel intensely relaxing, and may reduce nausea and pain too.

Generally, you would take an Indica strain for sleep problems, or appetite issues and a lack thereof.

Because of it’s deeply relaxing effects, night time is the best time for an Indica dominant strain.

Sativa on the other hand? This strain is known for giving you a ‘head high’, meaning you may feel invigorated, energized and a lot of mental clarity!

Sativa’s may help support lack of energy and motivation, increase creativity and help with focus as well.

Hybrid strains are a combination of both Indica and Sativa.

This means the effects will be more balanced throughout the body, making it a good choice for a variety of users and beginners too.

Don’t want to get high? CBD is the way to go!

You can consume CBD in capsules, oil form or incorporate them into edibles recipes and you will not get the psychoactive effects, or the high that you would with THC strains.

Mistake #3 – Not Decarbing Your Weed for Edibles

When you want to make cannabis edibles, we always encourage our Chefs to decarb their weed first.

Decarboxylation is a fancy term which basically means heating the flower of the cannabis plant to get the most out of it, and to activate the psychoactive or THC ingredients properly.

You can’t just grab some weed, grind it up and sprinkle it around. Won’t work and you won’t get the proper effect.
