Marijuana Use In Adults: Are You Too Old For Pot?

They say that age is just a number right? But what about marijuana use in adults: Are you too old for pot?

The verdict is out, but we think CBD and THC is a perfect compliment to your wellness routine no matter how hold you are ( past the legal age, of course).

Sadly, there seems to be a prevailing notion that marijuana use has an expiration date — and it’s well before you hit midlife.

Older smokers may not be aware of the effect marijuana or edibles may have on their bodies, because there are so many potential health benefits to be explored, and yes further researched.

7.5 percent of adults between the ages of 50 and 59 and 2.1 percent of those 60 and up used marijuana in 2011, according to the National Institute of Drug Abuse.

How Old is “Too Old”?

seniors-and-cannabis

This seems to be the question most mature adults ask themselves (or others) when exploring the world of Cannabis.

Another huge consideration is the conditioning and thinking that ‘at my age, I can’t just smoke up or get high’. Are we right?

Here’s the big secret: You are not too old, at any age, to explore how your body can possibly benefit from something so natural and wonderful as Cannabis.

And? You don’t have to take it to get high! You can consume CBD edibles, CBD oil, or Capsules that contain absolutely zero traces of THC ( the component of the plant that gets you high).

60 years old? 70? What about 75 +? There is nothing wrong with giving something healthy a try and who knows? You may even and feel fast results with things like:

  1. Arthritis & Chronic Pain – Cannabis has been known to help alleviate arthritic and chronic pain.
  2. Insomnia & Restless Legs – Marijuana may be the ticket to having better sleep and relieving you of those sore, restless legs.
  3. Hair & Skin Improvement – We all know as we age, hair begins to slow the growth process and our skin starts to collect more wrinkles.
  4. Anxiety & Depression – Cannabis may help your mood! Many mature adults suffer from depression due to isolation or loneliness.
  5. Digestion – taking CBD daily may help improve your digestion or indigestion – a common concern among older adults.

Medication VS Marijuana For Seniors

Here’s a big, huge claim – and brace yourselves – this is a big one: Some and we repeat: SOME seniors have even been able to lessen their medication load but switching over to using mostly marijuana.

We know this is a huge statement, and of course – we always suggest that you speak with your medical professionals before doing anything like that – but if you could save a lot of money, and inject healthier things into your wellness routine, don’t you think it’s worth a try?

Cannabis Products For Seniors

If you haven’t smoked, toked or inhaled before – and you’re looking to explore the feeling of that ‘high’, we suggest starting low and slow.

Also, we caution you to consider how you want to feel, and to most definitely stay home where you feel most safe and comfortable – everyone has a different response, so being at home will help ease the high.

Taking something that is uplifting and energetic may be nice – but you may also feel a lot of stress, and you may like to just relax and de-stress.

There are many dispensaries with professional budtenders who can guide you and help you find the right strain.

CBD For Seniors

CBD can be a fantastic addition to your wellness routine and you absolutely, will not get high. The way you can enjoy CBD for many possible wellness results is by starting low and slow.

CBD-Capsule

Medical professionals will likely advise you to take 0.3-.05 of a ml to start daily, and then very gradually you’ll increase that dose until you find a sweet spot that works best.

You can also enjoy gummies on a daily basis, along with CBD Skin cream, hair care, and of course, if you like cooking there are plenty of recipes to make edibles too!

No matter what, if you’re going to smoke up or try edibles — whether freely enjoying your states’ new law or taking illicit tokes at home — do it safely!
