A well-known celebrity chef in Italy was arrested with cannabis at his home.
He was found in the possession of two large marijuana plants and 1kg of Indian hemp along with some finished products such as cannabis infused wine, coffee, olives and even infused tuna.
Carmelo Chiaramonte, known as a connoisseur of Sicilian cuisine, he justified their presence by saying he was looking for “new flavours” for contemporary cuisine, Italian newspaper La Sicilia reported.
The 50-year-old chef, who simply wants to stay up to date with the latest cooking trends has been released pending trial.
Italian chefs rely mainly on the quality of the ingredients rather than on elaborate preparation. Italian chefs experimenting with the plant can be great for cannabis cuisine. But for now, cooking with cannabis is still illegal in Italy.
